Daffodil with Spring Dreams!

Hello there! Can we talk about this chilly weather for a minute? Brrr! 😄 I don’t know about you, but I’m more than ready for those warm, sunny days to make a comeback here in NS. But hey, while we wait for the warm days, I’ve found a little secret to chase away those winter blues—daffodils!

These cheerful blooms never fail to brighten my day and remind me that brighter, warmer days are just around the corner. And let me tell you, that thought alone puts the biggest smile on my face! 🌼

For this little piece of art I reached used 9*12″ 140 lb cold press paper and my go-to Art Philosophy paints. There’s just something so therapeutic about bringing these vibrant flowers to life on the page—it’s like a little slice of spring right in my studio!

So, here’s to chasing away the winter blues and embracing the promise of sunnier days ahead. Hang in there, friends—spring is just around the corner!

Diving into Water Lilies

Hey there! I’ve been wanting to paint water lilies for the longest time, but you know what? I didn’t want to get bogged down in too many details. So, I decided to take dive in and try my hand at a loose watercolor style—it’s all about going with the flow.

For this one, I grabbed my 140 lb cold press paper and my favourite go to Art Philosophy paints. And let me tell you, it was a total blast! There’s something so freeing about letting the colors dance across the page without worrying too much about perfection.

Sure, my water lilies might not be picture-perfect, but hey, that’s all part of the fun!

Taking a Break with Watercolor Florals

On this lazy afternoon—or wait should I really say, “lazy” ? As I am already in a process of large size painting of a bird in a Gouache with a realistic approach. So I decided to take a delightful break from realistic style.

A break from a detailed bird painting to relax and paint some loose watercolor flowers. It felt good to switch things up and work in a more laid-back style. Using my Art Philosophy paints and cold press paper, I let the colors flow freely. It’s amazing how a simple artistic break can rejuvenate your creativity!

Exploring New Horizons: A Two-Session Acrylic Painting

There’s something about painting on canvas that I find utterly enjoyable. This time around, I ventured into yet another acrylic painting but with a twist—it took me two separate sessions to complete.

In the first session, I focused on laying down the foundation: painting the skies, mountains, and applying a dark background for the tulip fields. Then, in the second session, it was all about bringing the tulips to life; of course not in a super realistic way.

My aim wasn’t to create a hyper-realistic piece, but rather to capture the essence of the scene in a recognizable style. For the distant flowers, I opted for a more suggestive approach, straying from my usual tendency towards realism.

Lately, I’ve been eager to explore different compositions beyond the typical single subject paintings. While landscapes aren’t typically my cup of tea, I’m determined to broaden my horizons across various mediums, whether it’s watercolor, acrylic, or gouache.

Here’s to embracing new challenges and pushing the boundaries of creativity!

Hello From This Side of World 🙋🏻‍♀️

Yeah Hello There!

I know I have been away from my blog. It’s just the (pandamic) routine, working from home and all. That being said the second lock down has just started today in Maharashtra India.

Anyways I resumed my paining, I guess last week or so and started posting it on Instagram. I could not post here on WP so thought to say HI to all my WP friends and share the paintings here as well.

After such a long break I knew that I need a good amount of practice to get back on track. So tried my hands on couple of Irises. Below are the pictures and also I have posted a time lapse video on Instagram you can see it on @artbysnehal

Stay safe and healthy that is what all I can say. Thank you for stopping by.

#day3 – Hummingbird and flowers #1

Started with this hummingbird painting. Today I could finish pencil drawing ✍️ followed by background and stared with fuchsia flower painting.

I am using arches paper for this painting as I have decided to work into multiple layers, so though this paper will definitely serve the purpose. Using Mijello mission gold colors. Please see attached work in progress pictures for reference.

Thank you.

Summer Bloom 🌸

realistic-flower3

Its been a while since I painted a realistic flower so here it is! It took me a long time to finish this piece of art. Initially I started with very high energy but then I was running out of patience so I stopped working on this one. But then looking at a finished piece I feel like those patience paid off , what say?

What I did is I tried to follow the same process throughout the entire painting, meaning every petal has the same style of layers. First one is very light wash of colors, second is medium dark colors then darker values etc.

Below are the progress photos, I tried to capture photos gradually, also you can see a couple of work in process video clips on my Instagram.

Material used are Prima Watercolors, Mission Gold Watercolors and Arches Cold Press 140 lb Paper.

If you get inspired with my artwork and create any, then don’t forget to share on Instagram with #inspiredbyartbysnehal so that I can see it too.

Ohh yes two more things, first is You are welcome to suggest me a title for this painting and second is I will be participating in #worldwatercolormonth which started tomorrow. Stay in touch for tomorrow’s post 😀

Thank you for stopping by.
