Confession and Paintings!

I know I know you must be wondering about the title, yes you read it correct. I have decided to end my 100 days of bird painting project 10 days early. That means the macaw I painted was the last one from this series.

I guess this is first time I have abruptly stopped the decided painting challenge, that being said my sabbatical is over and now full time work has started. It’s hard to dedicate time for art. So I had to discontinue the current challenge 10 days before.

On the other hand, the paintings which I photographed and edited last week  are now ready for sell.

Yes! Still not opened my art box yet. Painted this using aqua brush pen. I have recorded a time lapse video of this one, will be sharing it soon on Instagram.

Another update is it’s a second last day of our home quarantine. I am bored of this quarantine! Just counting the days.

Thank you for stopping by.

Day #84 /100 – Tiny bird

3F79477D-631B-40B1-B11C-6BCFDCC44A25

I have this tiny birds in progress for today. It’s my quarantined painting so I am using my travel kit these days. That being said it’s hard for me to achieve desired results with brush pen. Or may be it’s just my excuse that I am not using my regular art supplies 😉

so another update is our hotel quarantine is over today, and next 7 days we will be home quarantined. It feels so good when you come home after such a hectic journey and staying in hotel for a week with all your luggage. When we reached home, my mother in law cooked a delicious lunch / thali to welcome us. That was a bliss having homemade food after a while.

As I mentioned before, I am almost 10-15 days behind in this 100 days project, and it’s July the world watercolor month going on, I think I could participate in #worldwatercolormonth as well at the same time right!

Thank you for stopping by.

Day #81 /100 – Travel during pandemic (part II)

84035400-B0D4-4580-B9AF-808BE36B0655

Okay, if you have read yesterday’s post this is the second part of it.
Finally we landed in Mumbai on Thursday July 9 after! First thing was they did temperature check, then it was mandatory to register on Aarogya Setu App for that you need Indian SIM card. So there was a separate stall in lobby who were selling it. It took an hour of time. After that Immigration, luggage collection and customs.

Then the real scenario came in picture.  the long long queue for next registration for quarantine places. It took almost 3 hours. Thankfully we had managed the “ePass” before landing to Mumbai so that was a great help.

Almost after 4-5 hours of trouble after landing we finally got out of airport, our car was already waiting for us. Then the next journey started from Mumbai to Kolhapur. It was raining in Mumbai when we started the journey. This journey was almost 8 hours long. We reached in Kolhapur around 11:30 at night. There were several check posts on highway. The “ePass” we had was just valid for one day until 12 o’clock. So that luckily we could manage in time.

We directly went to hospital for testing, there they did temperature check and we also did Swab Testing. This entire thing took almost 2 hours. Finally we reached at hotel around 2 AM .

Anyways long story short, I painted this using aqua brush in hotel which was super uncomfortable for me but I could manage it.

Our test results came negative, so after 7 days we will be home quarantined for another 7days. Then hopefully we will be good.

These are the thought time around world 🌎 We need to be very careful about hygiene and how we interact in society meaning maintaining social distancing Covering face, washing hand frequently then this will be little easy for everyone else around along yourself. Hope this time will pass soon.

Thank you for stopping by.

Day #80/ 100 – Toucanet & Travel during pandemic

In case if you’re wondering why haven’t posted anything in last ten days or so. Then here is long post explaining it in detail.

Umm 🤔 where to start with?
Well I was busy with packing suitcases, selling furniture, donating things and cleaning the apartment as we were moving back to India from Denver, Colorado. You know how much food or other stuff we have at home right? Cleaning and emptying everything in apartment takes long time and efforts. Plus sorting things which we could carry in our suitcases (it should not weigh more than 23 kg each) and packing them was a big hassle. so I was bogged down with all these things so couldn’t paint or post anything.

We left Denver on 7th July 5:30 AM, called Uber. The lady Uber driver was so inspiring, we saw coding podcast on her car screen and the conversation began. She was Uber driver and learning coding in her free time. She wanted to work for tech giants like amazon or google. My husband shared couple of useful links regarding coding and other learning resources. She said that you guys given me so much information that next couple of months I will keep myself busy with loading new information. Anyways her learning desire for coding was worth appreciating; and inspiring to me.
Reached Denver airport, checked in our 5 luggage suitcases, then the flight was Denver to Newark, almost 3 and half hours. That was a good journey.
We did overnight stay nearby hotel in Newark. Then next day tomorrow early morning we left for airport. We were expecting surprises like they will hesitate for excess luggage while checking in, and we heard that in this 15 hour journey they won’t give us any food and what not. When we reached at airport saw a long queue outside of AirIndia gate. All Indian in that queue, who were stuck in USA for some or other reason. Everyone/families got up early or many reached in NJ a day before like us. Anyways that line took us 2 hours to reach to checking counter. They gave us couple of forms or undertakings to fill in. Did the temperature check and when we were in the queue saw the AirIndia associates were arguing for some extra pounds of luggage like 23 kg was officially allowed if it’s 23.5 they will ask you to take out few things or pay $140 for it. We crossed the fingers that our luggage should be in the limit and it was. Finally done with checking and went ahead for security check that was done smoothly too. Now the wait for flight departure. We were expecting food counter from where we planned to get some food but unfortunately everything was closed except 2-3 shops which were selling canned juice or so.

Finally it’s the time to boarding, they provided PPE suits to each middle seat person. Mine was window seat and my husband’s was middle seat, he got that White full body PPE suit.  The journey was 15 hours long and I must say it was the most hectic journey till now. At least that’s what my experience.

I guess the post has became a mile long now, I must stop here and shall continue in Part 2. If you have made it this long then I really appreciate it.

Now, here I started with Toucanet, made some progress on it.

Day#68/ 100 – To My Parents

26D2D6DE-552D-42C8-B2CB-EEA1A5A4ADB9

Eastern Towhee for today, again new bird for me. Never seen and painted before. But it was fun painting this guy. Added some leaves and berries to create some interest in the composition.

This one is dedicated to my parents, it’s there 33 rd marriage anniversary. Three years back when they just completed 30 th One, that day my dad messaged me “30 Complete” along with a photograph of beautifully arranged flowers in front of God and Goddess (in Marathi देव्हारा)( a family shrine).

In Hindu culture on any given occasion we follow the ritual of Puja (पुजा) (worship) ( is a worship ritual performed in the morning by Hindus to offer devotional homage and prayer to one or more deities, to host and honour a guest, or to spiritually celebrate an event.)

I still remember that day. That year after three months my Dad passed away. My parents had always seemed to be happy with each other. They were an ideal couple, made for each other. We siblings never seen them fighting Or not even arguing on any matter. My dad used to take care of my mom like nothing in the world. She was his entire world along with us. As mom was very emotional and used to take too much tension. Dad knew her very well and he used take care of every single situation that it never affected her. He took care of her at the very last moment Of his life. It was so unfortunate that he passed away from severe heart attack.

But after his death, our mom is playing his role. Now she has became strong. She gives us strength. We miss you dad! Happy Anniversary to both of you!

Day #66 /100 -Puffin

84A628FE-4D54-461A-A5F2-C0AB1C69A4BD

I missed to post the painting on WP yesterday but I definitely posted it on Instagram.

This is the first time I painted this bird. What a beauty in nature, black and white with orange and red. High contrast 😍

I used kosher salt 🧂 on rocks to add some texture.
